Located within the Guangzhou Zoo, the Guangzhou Ocean World, which opened to the public in January 1998, is one of the first ocean parks to operate in China. After upgrading the facilities, it will reopen on June 25th, 2024.
Covering an area of approximately 16,000 square meters with a total construction area of around 20,000 square meters, the ocean world boasts over 300 species of marine life and nearly 10,000 marine fish, including the giant Brazilian bony-tongue fishes, one of the largest freshwater fishes in the world, as well as the original largemouth fishes and ratmouth barbel from the Pearl River, myxocyprinus asiaticus, sand tiger sharks, bottlenose dolphins, spotted seals, green sea turtles, and beluga whales.
The upgraded ocean world features a larger area, four major themed exhibition areas, six stunning photo spots, and ten must-visit attractions, offering a diverse and enriching experience.
Four major themed areas
1. Jungle Adventure: Enjoy the shady green trees and watch sea turtles swimming leisurely.
2. Fantasy Realm: Bathe in the sunshine of a seaside town and make friends with sea lions and seals.
3. Elf Bay: This is the joyful home of dolphins, where the marine fairies welcome everyone.
4. SEC: A large indoor cyber-ocean exhibition area combining diverse technological interactions with deep-sea scenarios.
