As the string quartet with the richest history and profound influence in today's music world, the Kodály Quartet will return to Guangzhou in mid-November to deliver an affectionate interpretation of the timeless masterpieces of musical giants Joseph Haydn, Antonín Dvo?ák, and Zoltán Kodály.

The Kodály Quartet was founded in Hungary in 1966, with its four members being top students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. In the same year of its debut, the quartet received the jury's special diploma at the Concours de Genève (Geneva International Music Competition). In 1972, with the approval of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the Hungarian Republic, it took on the name of Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály in his honor, shortly after his passing.
To this day, they have toured with great success in almost every European country, as well as in the Americas, Japan, China, India, Australia, and New Zealand. The quartet has achieved numerous accomplishments since its founding and has been awarded the Ferenc Liszt Award (1970), the Merited Artist of the Hungarian Republic (1990), the Bartók-Pásztory Award (1996), and the Kossuth Prize (2022) by the Hungarian government, which is the highest cultural award in Hungary.
