The 30th Guangzhou Garden Expo kicked off on March 24, showing the city’s latest products in horticulture industry and green living environment.
The splendid scenery and innovative gardening installation wowed a group of expats when they embarked on a spring outing during the Expo. With a theme flower of hydrangea (繡球花), the event innovatively connects most parks and gardens in downtown Guangzhou through a main line Cloud Path (云道) to present gardening exhibitions.
"This place is so beautiful that I was totally impressed by these exquisite flowers and green trees, as well as the beautiful stories behind those monumental sculptures," Jeremie Mubua, a businessman from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, raved after he visited the Sculpture Park, one of the Expo's exhibition venues.
At a sculpture square in the park, expats got up close and personal with the stone statues and learned their symbolic meanings. They adopted relaxed poses for the camera in front of statues.
The gardening installation on the Cloud Path is another highlight of the Expo.
"Guangzhou should definitely be dubbed as the greenery city, if not the flower city," Anastasia Gkortsila, a Greek teacher, said as she strolled along the Cloud Path and admired the creative works.
The installations blend in with the surrounding greenery harmoniously, especially the AR animation installation designed by illustrator Sypo. Passersby scan the QR code and see a cute virtual bird bouncing across lawns and treetops in the real world.
Jeremie Mubua lives near the Cloud Path at the Luhu Lake Park. According to Mubua, the park boasts superior ecological environment. "I often run around here at night with my brother, and there are a lot of exercisers here every day."
In addition, eight sets of bamboo installations from five Southeast Asian countries and China's Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, are also on display at the Luhu Lake Park during the Expo. The creative art works and some photography exhibitions will provide a visual feast for visitors around the globe.
About the Guangzhou Garden Expo
The Guangzhou Garden Expo runs until April 2. It has connected Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area, Guangzhou Children's Park, Liuhua Lake Park and Orchid Garden through a main line—Cloud Path. Tourists can enter the path for free by appointment.
The Cloud Path has two sections:
Section A
Northeast Gate of Yuexiu Park——Southeast Gate of Jufang Garden of Luhu Lake Park (越秀公園東北門——麓湖公園聚芳園東南門)
The route allows visitors to appreciate the art works that blend with nature and experience the city culture of Guangzhou.
Section B
No.1 East Gate of Sculpture Park—— Southeast Gate of Jufang Garden of Luhu Lake Park (雕塑公園踏芳園東1門——麓湖公園聚芳園東南門)
The route offers the highlights of the second half of the "Cloud Path Nature Art Season".
